The Film: Under the Death Act, all human beings must go through seven trials in 49 days after death. Murder- Sloth -Deceit – Unjust – Betrayal – Violence – and Morality. Only the dead who pass all seven trials throughout the seven hells will be able to begin a new life.
Jahong is a fireman who met his death while rescuing a young girl from a fire. At the moment of his death, the death angel Won-maek (Ju Ji-hoon) appears before him to welcome him to the afterlife. In disbelief, Jahong is comforted by the angel saying that he died a righteous death. At the gates to the afterlife, Jahong is also greeted by Gang Rim (Ha Jeong-woo), the leader of the death angels, who has been waiting for him. The two angels will be Jahong’s protectors through the seven trials of hell as, well has his defenders in the case for his final judgement. That judgement being part of a pledge by the King of the Underworld to reincarnate 49 dead souls to live once again as humans for 1,000 years.
Ga Rim and Won-maek have confidently defended and escorted 48 previous dead souls into the afterlife. But this time during each of the hell trials, different revelations from Jahong’s past are revealed one by one and they face unexpected difficulties…

This film is based on the webcomic series of the same name by Joo Ho-min. Naver Webtoon
